Heartland farmers power the nation
About Farmers for A FAIR DEAL
America runs on the work of farmers. They feed our families, fuel our economy, and keep rural communities strong, yet they face falling crop prices, rising costs, and policies that too often leave them behind. When farmers struggle, the economic impact reaches far beyond the farm gate.
Farmers for a Fair Deal brings together farmers, working families, policymakers, and industry leaders to advance common-sense agriculture, energy, and infrastructure solutions that strengthen rural America. Farmers deserve more than our gratitude—they deserve policies that create opportunity, support thriving rural markets, and deliver a fair deal. When farmers win, America wins.
OUR INITIATIVES
45Z
45Z is a biofuel tax credit that can keep billions in investment local for Midwest farmers, rural electric cooperatives, and the power grid. Treasury got it right, so we’re calling on it to finalize 45Z’s electricity rules as written and keep that investment in the communities that earned it.
Thank a farmer
Farmers give everything to this country, working through weather they can’t predict and markets they can’t control. A thank you matters, but it isn’t enough. They deserve policies, markets, and opportunities to succeed.
E15
Year-round E15 means lower fuel prices, stronger demand for American corn, and greater energy independence. Discover why a permanent nationwide fix is essential for farmers, families, and rural communities.
Our Priorities
America’s rural communities deserve reliable energy, strong local economies, and policies that keep the Heartland growing. We bring together farmers, policymakers, and industry leaders to advance common-sense solutions that modernize the rural grid, protect jobs, strengthen agriculture, and secure long-term investment across rural America.
-
We must strengthen and expand our energy infrastructure. Private investment into our power grid – which includes thousands of farmers and rural electric co-ops that fuel our nation’s prosperity – will bolster Midwestern industries, working families, and rural communities. This means lowering rates for farmers and families, creating more jobs, and driving more investment into the heartland. Today’s energy affordability crisis requires an all-the-above energy resource approach. After all, energy is just energy, so let’s get as much of it online as we can to bring down consumer costs, create jobs, and bolster our nation’s resiliency. A modernized grid levels the playing field for the small farmer and working family.
-
The Midwest powers America. Policies should ensure that federal fuel incentives and private energy capital reinvests in those same heartland communities that support industry. Local energy investment strengthens farmers as well as the critical infrastructure that supports those farmers, the fuel industries they supply, and the hardworking communities that form the backbone of America. At a time when commodity prices are dropping and consumer costs are soaring, a reinvestment mechanism that directs private capital to rural communities will improve capability and affordability for both heartland industries and the families they serve.

Family farms are the heartbeat of America. No one better represents the American spirit and ideal. Yet, small farms are continually sidelined and locked out of the marketplace. Farmers for a Fair Deal works to ensure that the small farmer gets his fair share of the value being created through federal policymaking as well as national and international market development. Ignoring our small farms risks selling out the very soul of our country.
