Farmers For a Fair Deal Appears on WDAY Radio
On February 10, Patrick Rosenstiel, founder and director of Farmers For a Fair Deal, appeared on WDAY of Flag Family Media, to discuss the campaign and 45Z.
Rosenstiel said, in part, “45Z is a tax credit that is attached to biofuel production for the transportation industry, we wanted to make sure that Treasury understood that if you can keep that tax credit in the upper Midwest, where 90 percent of these biofuels are produced, that would allow biofuel producers to invest in the grid for example, drive demand for inputs - soybeans, corn, sorghum, all of the biomass that goes into energy production. And we all know, if farmers are winning and biofuel producers are winning, that lifts main street - everything from seed and feed, to people that offer insurance, to the lineman who do the grid investment in rural communities across the Midwest. And I will say that Treasury did a good job there, they actually did attach the tax credit to the region in which the energy is produced. They developed a bill that is very good for farmers, very good for biofuel producers, and by extension very good for the upper Midwest.”
